About Your Ultrasound
Your In-Home Ultrasound Experience
Images & Policies
An elective ultrasound is a non-diagnostic experience designed for bonding, connection, and keepsake purposes. Unlike a medical ultrasound, your Blissful Origins session is not used to evaluate your pregnancy, diagnose medical conditions, or replace any ultrasound or prenatal care recommended by your healthcare provider.
You don't need to have attended your first prenatal appointment before visiting Blissful Origins, but you do need to have prenatal care arranged. This simply means you've selected a qualified prenatal healthcare provider and scheduled your first appointment.A previous medical ultrasound is not required to enjoy a Blissful Origins experience.
Ultrasound has a long history of use during pregnancy. Unlike X-rays, ultrasound uses sound waves rather than ionizing radiation. At Blissful Origins, your baby's safety is always a priority. Every ultrasound is performed by an experienced, credentialed sonographer who follows professional safety guidelines, including the ALARA principle (As Low As Reasonably Achievable), to ensure the responsible and prudent use of ultrasound technology.
2D ultrasound creates the familiar black-and-white images of your baby that you may recognize from traditional prenatal ultrasounds.3D ultrasound creates three-dimensional still images, allowing you to see your baby's features, such as their tiny nose, lips, and cheeks, in greater detail.4D ultrasound brings those images to life with real-time movement, giving you the opportunity to watch your baby stretch, yawn, or move their little hands. Each offers a unique way to see and connect with your baby throughout pregnancy.
Blissful Origins offers ultrasound experiences beginning at 10 weeks of pregnancy. All of our ultrasounds are performed abdominally, and the images we're able to capture will vary depending on how far along you are.We offer a variety of experiences throughout pregnancy, so you can choose the one that best fits your stage of your journey.
From 10 weeks through 13 weeks and 6 days, we may briefly visualize cardiac activity during your session, but we don't offer heartbeat audio. Beginning at 14 weeks, we may be able to provide a brief heartbeat audio keepsake when it can be obtained promptly and safely. Heartbeat audio isn't guaranteed and isn't used to assess your baby's health or well-being.
At Blissful Origins, we offer gender prediction beginning at 16 weeks of pregnancy. Whether you're planning a special reveal or simply can't wait to find out, we're happy to share in the excitement! While gender prediction is generally reliable at this stage, accuracy depends on your baby's position and our ability to obtain a clear view, so results cannot be guaranteed.
We offer 3D/4D ultrasound beginning at 24 weeks of pregnancy. The ideal window is typically between 26 and 32 weeks, when your baby has developed more of the soft, rounded fullness in their face while still having room to move.Every baby is different, and the images we're able to capture depend on factors like your baby's position, movement, and the location of your placenta. While we can't guarantee specific images, we'll do our best to make your experience special.
Absolutely! We'd love to help you connect with all of your little ones.Ultrasound imaging can be a little more challenging with multiples, so additional appointment time may be necessary.
